College of Education and Human Development

Welcome to the website for the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at The University of Texas at San Antonio. The College is the leading provider of educators in the San Antonio area and one of the largest in the State of Texas.

The College is an exciting place to be; student enrollment is increasing at a rapid rate and our program offerings are expanding dramatically, with courses offered at the 1604 campus as well as the downtown campus. We offer programs in interdisciplinary studies and teacher preparation, educational leadership, counseling, adult education, higher education, health and kinesiology, bilingual bicultural studies, and Mexican- American studies. Field-based experiences and action research projects are important components of our degree programs and play a critical role in preparing students for their chosen careers.

Our renowned faculty, staff, and administrators are dedicated to preparing educators who are knowledgeable about and respectful of the communities they serve. Our faculty is committed to engaging in research that addresses critical educational issues and that informs policy and practice related to these issues. We believe that partnerships with local and area school districts, community agencies, other postsecondary educational institutions and community-based organizations are crucial to accomplishing our mission and we are engaged in numerous collaborative efforts in this regard.

We are proud to serve and provide students in San Antonio and the surrounding area with a first-rate education that equips them with the skills to respond to today’s educational challenges and the imagination and flexibility to solve the challenges of the future. We invite you to join our COEHD family and we encourage you to contact us about any questions you may have. We promise a rich academic environment and a rewarding educational experience.
