Kinesiology majors who select the exercise science track will be studying the science of exercise and sports. Courses related to this track will focus on human anatomy and physiology, fitness, exercise psychology, athletic injuries and other related topics.
At the end of their senior year, students in the exercise science specialization participate in an internship with a professional business or agency. During the internship semester, students gain practical experience applying the knowledge and skills acquired during their academic training.

Clinical exercise (obesity prevention and management, cardiac rehabilitation, etc.)

Option # 2:Physical Education with Teacher Certification
Course of Study:
Kinesiology majors who select the physical education with teacher certification track will be preparing to earn teacher certification as an All Level Physical Educator.
The degree plan consists of the University core curriculum, Kinesiology core requirements, and designated electives which include Kinesiology and Education coursework.
Upon completion of the Kinesiology degree, a student teaching component, and passing the state teacher certification exams (TExES), students are qualified to be hired to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade Physical Education in the state of Texas.
Because of the large number of certified P.E. teachers in the job market as compared to available job openings, it is highly recommended that students pursuing this certification area select a second teaching certification area to pursue along with the all level P.E. certificate.
Future Employment:
Students obtaining an All Level Physical Educator certificate typically apply to public schools where they are hired to teach physical education classes and to coach athletics.
