COEHD Mission Statement

The College of Education and Human Development prepares professionals for leadership in education and human development organizations serving diverse populations across their life span. Faculty engages in a broad and robust program of research and provides extensive service to the community, the university, their profession and the nation.

UTSA’s College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) takes great pride in creating a dynamic community for faculty, staff and students engaged in the nation's most important work – educating the leaders of tomorrow. We are a partnership of highly qualified and dedicated faculty offering programs in interdisciplinary studies and teacher preparation, educational leadership, counseling, adult and higher education, health and kinesiology, bilingual bicultural studies, and Mexican American studies. The COEHD offers B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees and three doctoral programs: Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Ph.D. in Culture, Literacy, and Language, and a Ph.D. in Counseling (January 2005). A fourth doctoral program in Curriculum and Instruction is already in the works for the next academic year. Our efforts are rooted in powerful partnerships with our local and area school districts, the City of San Antonio, the Alamo Community College Districts, and community based organizations. Together we have embraced our students and provided them with most exciting and meaningful real world experiences. Our graduates are known for their strong preparation and their success on licensing exams that have put UTSA at the top tier of institutions in the state.

With over 4,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, doctoral degree programs, the College of Education and Human Development is educating the leaders of tomorrow
